While beer tends to be popular around the world, because Puerto Rico is home to large areas of sugar cane, which is used in rum production by Bacardi and Don Q, cocktails tend to be very popular types of drinks in our tropical climate. Using a set of the uniquely popular flavors in Puerto Rico is coconut and guava, whose fruits grow as much and fast as plantains, we will show you how to make a delicious martini.


These ingredient quantities are set to minimum, so if you want to make a larger amount, just multiply by how much you want to make.

  1. 2 oz of good quality Coconut Rum. (Example of rums are Parrot Bay, Bacardi or Don Q).
  2. 2.5 oz of guava nectar or juice. You can usually find this at your local grocery store or supermarket.
  3. 0.5 oz of sweetened lime juice. This can be found at your local grocery or liquor store.


Normally all the contents have been in the fridge so that they are already nice and cold. Then, mix the ingredients above in a cocktail shaker with lots of ice. Shaking the contents with ice will make the cocktail even more chilled. Using the lid of the cocktail shaker (or if it has a perforated section), pour the contents of the mix into a glass with no ice and serve
